Valid New York State School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA) certification required.

Curriculum Related Responsibilities: 

  • Oversees the overall function and delivery of ESM’s K-12 Social Studies Curriculum with an emphasis on vertical and horizontal articulation within, and between all grade levels. 

  • Maintains an understanding of NYSED P-12 Social Studies Standards and can support the implementation K-12.

  • Conducts annual needs assessment in collaboration with Administration and Faculty to determine short-term and long-term goals for K-12 Social Studies curriculum.

  • Provides K-12 staff development aligned with instructional best practices in the field of Social Studies Education.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of appropriate assessments to provide data on student achievement (including benchmark assessments and interventions).

Supervision Related Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the K-12 Social Studies curriculum through formal and informal teacher observation, evaluation, and implementation of professional development. 

  • Determines, plans, and/or implements professional development, in coordination with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction to promote district vision, goals, and initiatives. 

  • Assists in the recruitment, screening, and hiring of professional staff members within the K-12 Social Studies curriculum.

Managerial Related Responsibilities:

  1. Assists with organizing and implementation of New York State Social Studies Assessments K-12.

  2. Coordinates the selection and ordering of materials and supplies for the department.

 

Compensation: As per Administrator's Contract
