Probationary Social Studies Teacher

The Eastport-South Manor Central School District is committed to empowering students through rigorous instruction and innovative programs in a community-anchored learning environment. We are looking for an enthusiastic Probationary Social Studies Teacher who values teamwork, continuous learning, and building positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.  This position is for a 7-12 school building.

 

Additional Responsibilities / Qualifications Include:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans and materials for Social Studies aligned to district curriculum standards and the instructional needs of all students.

  • Assess student understanding of Social Studies concepts through tests, quizzes, assignments, and informal formative assessments.

  • Maintain an orderly, positive, and interactive classroom environment that supports effective classroom management.

  • Design and participate in student-centered assessments that address individual needs and provide meaningful feedback on academic performance.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to support an inclusive, engaging, and cohesive instructional program.

  • Utilize varied instructional strategies—including small-group instruction, one-to-one support, and technology-based learning.

  • Monitor student progress, identify strengths and areas of need, and adjust instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles.

  • Integrate real-world applications of Social Studies to deepen student engagement and understanding.

  • Maintain open, timely communication with students, parents/guardians, faculty, and administration.

  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to respond to multiple student needs simultaneously.

  • Uphold student confidentiality and accurately maintain student records and files.
